Afternoon all

Last weekend saw another installment of the eagerly anticipated World Cup Qualifiers {cue sarcasm} but atleast we wasn’t left beaten, broken and humiliated.. well, unless you’re Scottish.. eh Alan? 😉

With very few shocks, it was always going to be another one of those high scoring weeks. Spain, Belgium, Germany and Italy bagged 24 goals between them, conceding only 1 –even Northern Ireland made a spectacle of it winning 4-0 against Azerbaijan who until Friday night, had been flying this campaign.

France left it late to beat Sweden, as did Turkey who needed two second half goals to beat Kosovo. Poland, Denmark and Croatia all eased past lesser opposition too, to claim another 3 points in the league standings.

Atleast this weekend we have domestic football to look forward too.

In the Premier League last weekend, it looked like the pot was going to be split 5 ways Monday night, that was until Poland equalized with just 11 minutes remaining on the clock, clinching Jonny Gleavo his fourth win of the season with a very impressive tally of 15 points!

Despite that win, Gleave still can’t topple Mark Golden who was one of the runners up on 14 points. Stewart Cole another International Guru scored 14, with Jonny Moss & Greg also just missing out.

Alan Kettlewell holds on to third place, just ahead of Birch on goal difference with Stewart continuing to climb the league, he’s now fifth having moved up another 2 places this week. Greg and Mark Borkin also climb 2 places at the expense of Chris Cole who drops out outside the Champions League places.

In the Championship, another single winner with 15 points – Congratulations go to Danny Bradders {MCFC OK}! Having dropped down the league placings the last couple of weeks, he’s back in business and back up to fourth, just 2 points behind Tracey who stays third. Pete remains top with 134 points having just missed out with a score of 14 last weekend, and remains a point better off than Mark Robbo.

Max drops to fifth, and is joined by Anthony and Sam Myall in the Playoffs –Tom just misses out on goal difference despite climbing 2 places and goes level with Robin Gentle on 124.

In League One, just one winner and deservedly so. Take a bow Mark Morgan, who pulled out an absolute MONSTER score of SIXTEEN POINTS last weekend, to match the previous record set by Stewart Cole (at International week too!). Talbot went top last weekend and now sits 2 points clear of Stuart, with Steve Moseley retaining third place. Andy Bentley stays fourth despite hitting abit of a purple patch, his score of 14 means the gap has closed further on Steve and Stuart with only goal difference able to separate the pack.

Luke, Jeff and Jimbo clinched places in the playoffs, whilst at the other end, a cracking score for Adam Carlisle see’s him climb outside of the relegation area as Ethan gets dragged into the red.

Over to the PNG and another single winner with that score of 15 points – Congrats go to John Battle who was 2 points clear of anyone else! Richie, Carlos and Bill came runners up on 13 points. That win, saw John leapfrog Alan Kettlewell who drops again this week to 6th.

At the top, nobody is troubling Richie who’s sitting pretty with a score of 139, 4 points clear of second place Bill. Eric dropped to third at the weekend, but stays 4 points clear of Big Carlos, 2 points ahead of weekly winner JB.
