It’s felt like forever but at long last we’re back up and running! Cheers Harry & Greg for getting things back on track – and whilst the submission results filter through, lets crack on with the winners for the first 2 weeks…
Starting with the newly titled Premier league, the opening weekend saw 3 winners share the pot with a score of 8 points each – Congratulations go to the Steph, Snell and Ben! Newly promoted Nick Royle just missed out on a share of the spoils scoring 7 points and was followed by Stewart, Mark Golden, Greg and Dan Wright who all took 6 points each…
Surprisingly our so called ‘top division’ had the lowest average score across all 4 leagues with an average score of just 5.65 – it was Division 3 that ran away with it, and looking at some of the scores submitted by this seasons newbie’s it’s going to be fiercely competitive this season.
In the Championship, just the one winner on the opening day of the season and it was last years Division 3 runner up, Max Wright that took top spot with a score of 9 points! He learnt everything he knows from his dad..
Tommy Pickles & Mark Robbo came a close second with 8 points each, another 2 players that enjoyed promotion last season, as did Jessie me old’nan who broke her own ‘PB’ with her highest ever league position of fourth (probably abit premature with 39 weeks remaining).
In League One, another single winner took the plaudits with an opening day victory – Congratulations went to Stuart Gunn who scored an impressive total of 9 points on his Predictions debut to take the pot! Fellow debutant Ethan also looks like one to watch this season, he came runner up along with our very own Martin Spencely on 8 points each..
Over to our PNG Division and we had another fantastic response over the Summer to keep the league going 3 years after we first started (Great to hear from you all!)
It’s always important to hit the ground running and it was big Carlos Nunes who was first out of the blocks with a score of 8 to put some distance between himself and the rest of the guys. Richie, John Battle, Daddybear and reigning Champ Eric are all close behind with only a point in it, leaving Tommy, Norman, Lucky and Bill just behind, as Tony has some work to do.
Week 2 saw the return of Jonny Gleave on winners row!! It’s been too long! And joining him was Andy Graham who matched Gleavo’s score of 11 points – very well done sir!
Both Chris Snell and Ben retain their place at the top of the Division, with weekly winners Gleave & Andy just behind on goal difference. Greg and Steph follow with Jonny Moss doing just enough to occupy that remaining Champions League place…
Although Wolfie may be rooted to the foot of the Division, a decent score this weekend would see him potentially climb into the top half of the table so fear not – it’s only week 3 after all..
Except you Alan. You’re getting relegated.
In the Championship, it was a return to winning ways for Shrimper Robin and last weeks runner up, Mark Robbinson! Boooushh – their score of 11 gave them a share of the pot and catapulted Mark to the top of the league table! Skybet previously had Mark as the 4/1 favourite to be crowned league winner and after last weekend it appears the odds have been slashed further to just 5/2!
Tommy Pickles is in second place, and just like his beloved Liverpool, any dreams of a title will be over by Christmas. Max drops to third, with only a point the difference to Robin and Trazza who’s up 2 places into fifth. Danny Bradders had a decent week and climbs 10 places, as did Pete Louth who takes his place in playoffs.
In League Two, there was just the one winner last weekend… a score of 10 points was enough to take the pot and his place at the top of the league! Congratulations go to Ethan Ashworth who is already taking the league by storm! The kids are running riot!
Stuart doesn’t fall far and will take second place into the weekend, marginally ahead of Jeff Smith and Andy Bentley who appears to have continued with the same form he ended last season. Martin & Luke are neck and neck and remain locked on 15 points each, with Jimbo taking the early braggin’ rights over the red mancs Talbot and Adam Burtonwood (Rolf to his mates Tom) -welcome to the Predictions family AB’.
In the PNG, just the one winner and it was last weekends best score across all 4 Divisions.. saving the very best til last – take a bow Bill Lowrie! Your score of 12 obliterated the rest of the competition and rightfully puts you at the top of the league table if only on goal difference.. John Battle & Eric are tied on 17 points each, both leapfrog last weeks winner Carlos.
And look everybody! We’ve not one… not TWO… but THREE Kettlewells in the bottom 3! (and yes Emma i’m including you!) Haha If your sat anywhere near them point and laugh. They certainly talk the talk but it’s all hot air as usual.
Good luck everybody – lets do our best to keep them there.
Good luck this weekend and remember to get your predictions submitted before the 12.30 deadline Saturday!
